Recruitment Process Outsourcing: Vendor Ranking

RPO - Vender Ranking

Breadth of Coverage

The parameters for the Breadth of Coverage are: industries covered, client coverage, and raw numbers placed by the provider.

  • Industries Covered - This includes specifics such as the total number of industries targeted.
  • Client Coverage - This includes geographical coverage of the clients.
  • Raw numbers placed by the provider - This includes the raw numbers of candidates placed by the service provider.

Potential to Grow

The parameters considered for measuring vendor’s Potential to Grow are breadth of services, growth/innovation plans, and awards and recognition.

  • Breadth of services - Wide range of services are covered here, further this was segregated as 'common' and 'unique' services.
  • Growth/innovation plans - This criterion assesses all the strategies adopted by the vendor with regards to expansion. Specifics such as planning for future growth through strategic plans, geographic expansion, mergers and acquisitions, if any, and other expansion plans and innovative ideas are considered.
  • Awards and recognition - This includes various awards and recognition received by the vendors from recognized authorities, which acknowledges the present achievements and forecasts future growth of either the specific RPO segment or the entire firm.

Apart from this, one more parameter was considered i.e. Overall Name & Visibility of the Company; it may not be specific to RPO. This parameter is based on the FSO discretion.

Pioneers/Frontrunners/Key Players

Industry pioneers can be identified by their broad range of service offerings and a balanced rate of growth. Such players typically have a large client base (relative to market size) and deliver services across industries. In addition, they operate from multiple locations worldwide.

Emerging Players

Emerging Players are the potential leaders of tomorrow. They demonstrate a high growth rate and have several growth strategies in the pipeline to target multiple industries. These players have a rapidly expanding client base and provide services from growing number of locations.

Specialized Players

Specialized Players offer limited but quality services. They have a moderate client base and operate from multiple locations. As compared to leaders and contenders, they operate on a smaller scale.

Contenders deliver wide range of services and design innovative strategies, products and services to promote healthy competition. Such players operate from multiple locations and concentrate on several industries.

Recruitment Process Outsourcing: Industry Overview

As the paucity of skilled professionals intensifies, organizations are emphasizing on recruitment outsourcing to draw top talent and consequently achieve the highest levels of customer satisfaction. Currently, recruitment process outsourcing is evolving and gaining ground as the fastest growing segment within the human resource outsourcing industry. The industry is showing a strong growth in terms of size, scope, and duration of contracts. It is estimated that the RPO market will reach USD 880 million by 2008 year-end (and USD 1.5 billion in 2009), with a positive outlook ahead. Key drivers for future growth of the RPO industry will be geographical expansion of large firms, demand for recruitment expertise, need for improved service delivery, and advancements in technology.

With the changing business environment, corporates have a strong need to include mid-level professionals, as compared to earlier staffing requirements limited to high-volume recruitment. The RPO industry has transformed from providing non-core recruitment to managing critical recruitment processes and sourcing key professionals for key positions.

The trends which will occur in the coming years are:

  • A global RPO model will emerge
As the industry matures, large RPO players will make efforts to collaborate with local RPO providers to expand their network and establish a global RPO model. The definition and standards of the industry will mature with time.
  • High growth in emerging markets
Emerging markets such as Asia-Pacific, where large talent pool is available, will underpin the growth of RPOs.
  • Stand-alone RPOs will surface
Multi-process HRO service providers will segregate RPO as a stand-alone service. RPOs will increasingly focus on the ability to provide additional talent management services.
  • Partnership with full-service HRO providers
Pure-play RPO providers will look forward to collaborate with full-scale HRO providers to integrate talent management capabilities.
  • Involvement of RPOs in high-end processes
RPO service providers will raise their participation in activities such as workforce planning and framing talent strategies. Tasks such as induction and on-boarding, which the firms are reluctant to outsource, will become a significant part of RPO services.
  • Increase in the number of acquisition deals and large contracts
As huge corporates identify the advantages of RPOs, contracts having large deal value will become more common and acquisition activity will rise.
  • Focus on brand enhancements
RPO service providers will look forward to brand enhancements to increase visibility and attract new talent, not to mention new clients.
  • RPO model will be embraced by firms of all sizes
Earlier, only large firms outsourced their entire recruitment process. The trend will extend to mid and small sized firms in the near future.
